Is this a war crime? a) If the driver was a suicide bomber, then the soldier was right to fire on the vehicle. No war crime. Even if the passenger was an innocent civilian. |

Because that’s what you’re saying, in your rush to defend them all, generically - if you relieve someone of all moral culpability by saying they’re just helpless tools, then you’re saying that they’re nothing more than physical objects, or at best, badly-trained dogs. I keith phipps think you are laboring under a misconception here. I was specifically responding to Moron’s comments about how the ENTIRE Army officer corps and whoever else keith phipps could be roped in should be tried for keith phipps war crimes under a future progressive administration. That is clearly nuts. Soldiers in war commit many horrible, horrible acts that aren’t war crimes. It is the very nature of war. Especially in a low-intesity conflict like Iraq, where the dividing line between enemy combatant and civilian has essentially been erased, almost everything is going to fall into a messy, ugly grey area. But any moron could have seen that this was going to happen if we invaded Iraq. |
