It's been friends said by those of us outside America that we hate the American government, we don't hate the American people. That was true. In 2000, Bush did not win the popular vote. He campaigned on a platform of compassionate conservatism and uniting the country. Americans who did vote for Bush can hardly be blamed for not realising what they were voting for. As far as I'm concerned, all that changed yesterday.... The friends American people looked at the record of Bush and decided it was worthy of re-election. For that, the American electorate has my utter contempt. |
