I’m not really trashing the UFC and the fighters or MMA competitions in general – I’m just saying that holding it up as THE shining example of the ability of a male to fight photo essay another male is pretty ridiculous, especially because photo essay REAL fights don’t have rules, don’t have refs, and don’t have rings. Many real fighters photo essay don’t feel the need to prove themselves in competition. There’s a difference between training to fight because you want to learn to fight good and learn about a specific style, and training to fight because you want to win a competition – it doesn’t mean that you can’t do both, and be good at both, but they are different. |
