| On behalf of the Parents Television Council's teenhelp 850,000 members I am writing you today to let you know teenhelp that by advertising on the MTV cable network, you are underwriting some of the most harmful and offensive programming on television. I ask you to consider this one question: At what cost are you willing to reach a desired demographic? As you are undoubtedly aware, there is a national teenhelp outrage against indecent content on television, particularly when children compose a significant portion of the viewing audience. This outrage stems in large part to the MTV-produced Super Bowl halftime show. As a member of the corporate advertising community, it is important for you to be aware of the messages your advertising dollars are supporting, especially when those messages are influencing young children, as is the case with MTV. |
