HANG IN THERE gf. Posted by: Clarice | March 12, 2006 08:14 AM I read your blog every day and I finally had to comment on it. My husband broke both arms at the same time in Nov. of '99, he got hypothermic french/appendices/history as well,being outside in 29 degree weather in shorty pj's (I was at work, so no cracks french/appendices/history please). He was in the hospital for a week and had the rt. shoulder/arm surgically fixed. Now I'm an RN and I know what goes on in hospitals, he was totally helpless french/appendices/history so either I or his mother, also an RN stayed with him 24/7. After his surgery he was in a lot of pain, his Ortho. surgean didn't scimp on the pain meds tho, he got 15mg of Morphin with Visteril every 4 hrs. IM as needed. Once about 3a.m. we called for a shot and when the nurse went to get it I went to get him more ice water, when I passed the desk there was a fat orderly sitting with his feet up on the desk, having worked nights that didn't bother me at all, but then he says "he's going home soon so he's going to have to learn to deal with a little pain".
